Chaplain Sams made two guest appearances on a local public access cable TV channel on behalf of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, an organization to which he was deeply committed in his retirement years.

The first was with Jean Pugh, president of the St. Petersburg chapter of Americans United, to introduce the Americans United production of a documentary on the history of religious freedom in America:

The second was as part of a panel discussion on prayer in the public schools and other threats to religious liberty posed by the religious right at the time (1994):

Audio

There are only two known audio recordings of Ch. Sams's public speaking engagements.

The first is a sermon entitled "The Myth of the Good Old Days", delivered May 7, 1989 at Azalea Baptist Church, St. Petersburg, Florida. The cassette tape from which this audio was recovered is at least 30 years old, so the sound is a bit warbly in places but still discernible. The notes for this sermon are at #1216 and #1017 in the Notebooks.

The second is of Ch. Sams leading the adult Sunday School class of Azalea Baptist Church on June 24, 1990 in a study of Jeremiah 31:27-34 entitled "A Covenant of the Heart."
